Gear Storage Tip

2008/10/20

If you tend to keep a big pile of gear in one corner of your garage, it is probably a good idea NOT to store used cans of paint on the top shelf above the pile. In the unlikely event that a paint can gets knocked from the top shelf, and hits the corner of an open gear box on its side, it is possible for the lid to detach in a somewhat explosive manner. If this occurs, you will spend a LOT of time trying to clean paint splatter from everything within a 10 foot radius. Eventually, you will probably convince yourself that polka-dotted, striped, and splattered gear looks cool and just leave it as-is. Some items must be cleaned, however, and paint is very hard to clean up. Just trust me on this one.
